An Odd Petrichor

I'm sure you've smelled the smell of impending rain, as have I. And only recently did I learn it's name. But what I hadn't known until this moment is that smell varies by locale. The Petrichor of south east Oregon is distinct from that of California: more pungent, with undertones of burnt wood.
This is beautiful but desolate landscape -bleak and treeless. It's good for the soul.
